Manifestation is the process of bringing something tangible into your life through attraction and belief, essentially if you think it, it can come. This concept is rooted in the law of attraction, which suggests that by focusing on positive or negative thoughts, one can bring positive or negative experiences into their life. Manifestation goes beyond mere thought; it involves the harmony of belief, emotion, and action towards achieving one’s desires.
The Process of Manifestation
Set the Intention:
The principle of manifestation is simple yet profound: what you focus on expands; similar energies attract. This means that if you focus your thoughts and energy on positive outcomes, positivity will come back to you. Conversely, dwelling on negative thoughts will attract negativity. This principle emphasizes the importance of maintaining a positive outlook and mindset to attract the life you desire. It posits that by channeling your energy and attention towards a specific goal or desire, you align yourself with the possibilities of making it a reality. The process involves several key steps, starting with clarity. You must be clear about what you wish to manifest. This clarity of intention sets the foundation for the manifesting process.
Visualize:
Once the intention is set, the next step involves asking the universe for what you desire. This can be achieved through visualization, affirmations, or simply expressing your desires into the universe. By creating a clear mental image of what you want, you send a strong message to the universe about your intentions. Visualization is a powerful tool in manifestation; by creating a vivid mental image of your desired outcome, you’re essentially programming your subconscious mind to recognize and work towards this goal.
Start by creating a vivid mental image of your desired outcome. Visualization is more than just thinking about what you want; it’s about immersing yourself in the experience as if it’s happening right now. Imagine the scene in as much detail as possible—where are you, who is with you, what are you doing, how are you feeling? Engaging all your senses in this visualization can make it more powerful and real to your subconscious mind.

Belief is at the heart of manifestation. You must believe not only in the possibility of achieving your desires but also in your worthiness of achieving them. This belief is what transforms thought into reality. Doubt and skepticism, on the other hand, can act as barriers to manifestation, as they emit a frequency that contradicts the essence of your desires.

Emotion plays a critical role in the process. The emotions you feel about your desire—be it excitement, joy, gratitude—are signals to the universe about your readiness to receive. Positive emotions amplify your desires, making them more potent and likely to manifest. Negative emotions, conversely, can hinder the process by creating resistance and blocking the flow of abundance.

Techniques such as mindfulness, meditation, and emotional freedom technique (EFT sometimes referred to as “tapping” – I will have an article posted soon on Tapping) can be effective tools in this endeavor. Embody these emotions fully, allowing them to permeate your being. Feeling these emotions in the present tense is key to manifesting your desires.
Affirmations:
(We will discuss below how to write affirmations.) Positive affirmations are short, powerful statements that help to reprogram your subconscious mind, encouraging a positive mindset and reinforcing your goals. Regularly reciting affirmations related to your desires helps keep your energy and focus aligned with your objectives, boosting your manifestation efforts. Use affirmations to reinforce the reality of your desires. Craft statements that affirm your desired outcome as already being true. For instance, instead of saying, “I will be successful,” say, “I am successful.” Repeat these affirmations daily, especially during your visualization exercises, to strengthen your belief and emotional alignment with your goals.
Act As If:
Taking inspired action is another crucial aspect. Manifestation is not just about wishing for something to happen; it’s about putting in the effort to make it happen. While manifesting involves a lot of internal work—shifting beliefs, visualizing, and emotional alignment—it also requires you to take concrete steps towards your goal. These actions, however small, signal to the universe your commitment and readiness to receive.
To feel as if your desire has already happened, start incorporating actions into your daily life that reflect your expected outcome. These don’t have to be grand gestures; small, symbolic actions can be incredibly powerful. For example, if you’re manifesting a new job, you might start waking up earlier as you would for your new role or even dressing the part. Acting “as if” helps solidify your belief and expectation, further aligning your energy with your desires.
Mindfulness and Presence:
Practicing mindfulness and staying present can help you maintain the feeling that your desires have already manifested. When you are fully present, it’s easier to embody the emotions and energy of your desired outcome without being weighed down by past regrets or future anxieties. By living in the now and appreciating your current circumstances, you open yourself up to receiving the abundance the universe has to offer. This principle encourages mindfulness and gratitude for the present, creating a positive environment for manifestations to occur. This presence also opens you to notice and appreciate signs and synchronicities related to your manifestation.
Gratitude:
Cultivate a sense of gratitude for your desired outcome as if it has already occurred. Gratitude is a powerful vibrational match for manifestation, as it emits positivity and acceptance to the universe, reinforcing your belief in the manifested outcome. Regularly express gratitude for your current blessings and for the fulfillment of your desires.

This doesn’t mean giving up on your goals; rather, it’s about surrendering the need to control how and when they will manifest. Often, the universe delivers in ways we least expect. Being open to receiving from any source amplifies the manifestation process, as it removes limitations and opens infinite possibilities. Emotional maturity is characterized by the ability to manage and respond to emotional experiences in a balanced and constructive manner. Emotionally healthy adults can navigate complex emotional landscapes without being overwhelmed and can use their emotions to guide adaptive behavior and decision-making.
Emotions evolve through life because of changing circumstances, experiences, and cognitive and social development. In childhood, emotions are primarily externally regulated by caregivers. As children grow, they gradually learn to internalize emotion regulation strategies. Throughout adolescence and into adulthood, the development of the prefrontal cortex, which plays a critical role in regulating emotions, allows for more sophisticated management of emotional experiences.
An emotionally healthy adult is not one who avoids emotions but one who understands and respects their power. They can identify their emotions, understand their triggers, and choose appropriate responses. This emotional regulation maturity involves recognizing the transient nature of emotions and the ability not to be defined by any single emotional experience.

For instance, replacing a negative emotion with a positive one can be achieved by consciously shifting focus from a threat or loss to an opportunity or learning experience. This doesn’t mean ignoring negative emotions but rather understanding them, acknowledging their presence, and then actively choosing to shift towards a more positive or constructive emotional state.
Trauma can significantly impact an individual’s ability to regulate emotions, leading to overwhelming feelings, intense anxiety, depression, or emotional numbness. Trauma therapy, including approaches such as cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT), eye movement desensitization and reprocessing (EMDR), and mindfulness-based stress reduction (MBSR), can be instrumental in helping individuals learn to regulate their emotions more effectively.

For each negative belief, consider what positive opposite belief would be most empowering. This belief should reflect your ideal state or how you wish to feel about the situation. The universe doesn’t process negatives directly. Hence, using positive language in affirmations is crucial. For instance, instead of saying, “I don’t want to be broke,” affirm, “I am financially abundant.”
Use the Present Tense:
Frame your affirmation in the present tense, as if the positive change has already occurred. This helps create a sense of immediacy and possibility.
Make It Personal and Emotional:
Ensure the affirmation speaks to you personally and evokes positive emotions. Including emotional words increases the affirmation’s impact.
Keep It Short and Specific:
A concise affirmation is easier to remember and repeat. It should be specific enough to address the core of what you wish to change or achieve.
To maximize the effectiveness of affirmations, they should be used consistently and with intention.

Regular repetition is key to embedding the new positive beliefs into your subconscious. Set aside time each day for your affirmation practice, ideally in the morning or before bed.

As you recite your affirmations, try to evoke the emotions associated with the positive outcomes you seek. Feeling the truth of your words enhances their impact.
Incorporate into Daily Life:
Find ways to remind yourself of your affirmations throughout the day. This could be through sticky notes in visible places, setting reminders on your phone, or incorporating them into your journaling. I write my affirmations (in my 369 Journal) three times in the morning (as well as repeating them), six times in the afternoon, and nine times in the evening just before bed. I find this very beneficial for my manifestation practice and it helps me to believe my intention is already true.
